Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers approximately 8,300 km2 and is located 156 km west of Arusha Town.

Apart from its unique craters (Ngorongoro and Empalai), it is also a pioneering experiment in multiple land use for the benefits of both Maasai people and the wildlife in a natural and traditional setting.

Due to its outstanding wildlife and cultural value, Ngorongoro has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
